OTTAWA -- For what its worth, the Arizona Coyotes will have the advantage of being the more rested team when they take on the Ottawa Senators at Canadian Tire Centre Tuesday night. The Coyotes, who will be playing just their second game of the season after opening with an overtime victory over the Philadelphia Flyers on home ice Saturday, were kicked back in their Ottawa hotels while the Senators were getting crunched 5-1 in Detroit on Monday. The game in Ottawa marks the first of six in a row on the road, within a 10-day span, for the Coyotes. All in the Eastern time zone.I think its great for our team to get on the road, Coyotes coach Dave Tippett told the Arizona Republican. Well see what were made of early. That would be plenty of youth, for starters. The Coyotes dressed four rookies against the Flyers, including winger Lawson Crouse, defenseman Jakob Chychrun and centers Laurent Dauphin and Christian Dvorak. A fifth freshman, 2015 third overall pick Dylan Strome, was a healthy scratch Saturday and could be making his debut against the Senators. Were going into some buildings where were not going to have time to be young and inexperienced, said Tippett, whose team will also make stops in Montreal, New York for both the Islanders and the Rangers, New Jersey and Philadelphia. Were going to have to dig right in.The Senators, meanwhile, will attempt to bounce right back from suffering their first defeat. After opening the season with an overtime win and a shootout win at home, they outshot the Red Wings 32-25 but had only a shorthanded goal by winger Ryan Dzingel to show for their efforts. It was the second in two games for Dzingel, who played 30 games for Ottawa as a rookie last season and was then was the surprise of camp for new coach Guy Boucher. We werent competing, Boucher said of the teams effort at The Joe. And thats what you deserve when you dont compete. While the Coyotes are expected to start No. 1 goalie Mike Smith, the Senators will go back to their starter, Craig Anderson. Backup Andrew Hammond played in Detroit and gave up a bad goal, the first of a hat trick by defensemen Mike Green, that opened the flood gates for the Red Wings. Their outburst saw them score three times in a 5:34 spread to take a comfortable lead into the intermission.Youre asking for trouble when you react like that after a goal, said Boucher, whose power play was 0-for-3 and is now 0-for-9 on the season. Were getting good shots but were not screening the goalie. Hes making good saves because he can see the puck. The Senators will try to change that against the Coyotes. We know the mistakes we made, said Senators defenseman Dion Phaneuf. Weve got an important game (Tuesday) and its about responding.Darius Leonard Colts Jersey . - The Washington Redskins have cut defensive lineman Adam Carriker and punter Sav Rocca. Dickey baffled the Tampa Bay Rays again. Dickey pitched a two-hitter for his first complete game of the year, Jose Reyes went 0-for-4 in his return from a two-month layoff and the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Rays 3-0 Wednesday for their 12th win in 14 games. "I just concentrate on trying to produce a good knuckleball down in the strike zone for a strike, and today I was able to do that," Dickey said. "Mechanically, I was very repeatable, and you saw the results. They were hitting a lot of ground balls, I had a high strike percentage, so thats what Im looking for." Dickey (7-8) retired his first 13 batters before James Loney grounded a single between shortstop and third base with one out in the fifth. Yunel Escobar had a one-out single in the sixth, then was erased when Matt Joyce hit a double-play grounder. "Tremendous," Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said. "You could tell early on he had it going. That ball was dancing. Big break. We played a nice ballgame and as good a game as you can pitch, I guess, unless its perfect." Dickey struck out six and walked one. The knuckleballer pitched a one-hitter for the New York Mets against the Rays on June 13 last year, allowing B.J. Uptons first-inning infield single. "He was really good, theres no question," Rays manager Joe Maddon said. "We didnt hit, I think, even one ball hard. He was just on top of his game." Only one Tampa Bay runner, Desmond Jennings who walked and stole second in the seventh, advanced past first base. Adam Lind and Edwin Encarnacion homered for the Blue Jays, who had lost two in a row after tying their team record of 11 straight wins. Reyes, the All-Star shortstop traded from Miami to Toronto during the offf-season, had been sidelined since severely spraining his left ankle sliding into second base during an April 12 game at Kansas City.dddddddddddd He grounded out three times, stranding runners on second in the third and fifth innings, and also flied out. His average dropped from .397 to .357 (15 for 42). "Everything felt the way that I expected," Reyes said. "I enjoyed being out there because I missed that for a long time." Reyes also made a nifty defensive play in the first inning, going into the hole to make a back-handed grab and then throw out Jennings at first. "Its fun to feel the effect of that right out of the chute," Dickey said. "Ive played with him for a while now, and Ill tell my grandkids about him. Hes that good of a player." Jose Bautista doubled leading off the fourth and scored on Melky Cabreras two-out single. Lind homered in the sixth and Encarnacion in the ninth. Roberto Hernandez (4-9) gave up three runs and six hits in eight-plus innings. "I think Roberto was fantastic," Maddon said. "That was probably his best game all year. Both sides pitched well." NOTES: To make room for Reyes, Toronto optioned SS Munenori Kawasaki to Triple-A Buffalo after Tuesdays game. It was a move that prompted Gibbons to hold a team meeting to announce the news. "Its always tough sending anybody out, but theres something special about this guy," Gibbons said. "He was so well-liked and loved by this teammates. Hell be back." Gibbons said this is first time he has done something like that in his managerial career. ... The game was played in 2 hours, 10 minutes. ... 2B Ben Zobrist took a hit away from Lind in the second, diving to his right to field a hard shot and then throwing to first. ' ' '
