to sign a massive contract with the New York Jets:Sources: Former #Ravens LB CJ Mosley is expected to sign with the #Jets on a massive..."Baltimore Ravens inside linebacker C.J. Mosley is expected to sign a massive contract with the New York Jets:Mosley was a first round pick in 2014 and played five seasons in Baltimore. He collected 579 tackles Stitched Justin Tucker Jersey , 8.5 sacks and 9 interceptions in route to Pro Bowl recognition in four of his five seasons. Baltimore certainly hoped to retain their defensive centerpiece but after extensive negotiations his price tag was deemed too rich.New general manager Eric DeCosta will now be tasked with replacing the leadership of Mosley, Eric Weddle and Terrell Suggs from 2018’s top ranked defense. He definitely has his work cut out for him.For as much as Mosley had issues in coverage and overall athleticism (which can also be said for Suggs and Weddle), there’s undoubtedly a leadership vacuum on defense at the moment. That is without even mentioning the loss of actual starting quality players who DeCosta will need to replace.Ultimately, Baltimore was in a tough spot, they were never going to give Mosley the money he commanded on the open market. Tying up $17 million dollars per season in an inside linebacker makes sense for a franchise like the Jets who are playing with excess salary cap space, but the Ravens simply cannot afford to do so considering the other needs they possess on both sides of the ball.Allowing three defensive stalwarts to depart may be an indication that the Ravens are planning to invest in offensive personnel. If DeCosta and the front office are serious about building up the roster for a long term run with Lamar Jackson, it begins now. However Baby Justin Tucker Jersey , rather than signing an actual free agent, Baltimore picked up the contract option of cornerback Brandon Carr:Carr, 32, has been a fixture in the Ravens secondary over the past two seasons. He’s played and started all 32 possible games since joining the team in 2017, recording a total of 101 tackles, 23 pass defenses, and six interceptions. This past season, Carr received a 71.5 grade from Pro Football Focus, which qualifies as “above average” and ranked 35th among all cornerbacks in the NFL. While many cornerbacks begin to decline as they age Best Justin Tucker Jersey , Carr has shown no signs of slowing down. The Ravens decision to retain Carr for the 2019-20 season should come as no surprise, as general manager Eric DeCosta suggested Carr would be back in his press conference at the NFL scouting combine. With Eric Weddle heading out West, there will be a leadership void in the secondary next year. Given Carr’s experience and veteran presence, it’s possible that he could take on a bigger role in terms of leadership. Carr’s durability and consistency could also make Jimmy Smith, whose cap hit in 2019 is $15,850,685, expendable. Smith, 30 Adult Justin Tucker Jersey , is no longer the elite cornerback he used to be, as injuries and suspensions have taken their toll over the past several seasons. If the Ravens opt to part ways with Smith, their secondary could take a small hit but their starting cornerback trio of Carr, Marlon Humphrey, and Tavon Young is still one of the more talented groups in the league. If Brandon Carr has another strong year, it’s possible that he could finish his career in Baltimore.
